This Spicy BBQ Baked Beans recipe is anything but traditional. Why? Because it's actually exciting. We add a little smoke, spice and yee-haw to some basic pinto beans, and we don't go easy on the bacon either! Feel free to use your favorite BBQ sauce instead of the one we suggest. This may be a Spicy BBQ Baked Beans recipe but you can lessen the spice by replacing one of the spicy chili powders with regular chili powder. Anyway, enough messing around. Let's dig in and enjoy what is soon to become your new favorite side dish.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 diced red bell pepper
  • 2/3 diced red onion
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 30 oz bag Epic Bacon Bits
  • 1/4 tsp ancho chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp chipotle chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1tsp dried mustard
  • 1 can pinto beans drained
  • 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup Fat Boy Haugwaush BBQ Sauce
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened ketchup
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp olive oil
Directions
  • Step 1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2 In a medium size sauce pan, add olive oil.
  • Step 3 Once hot, add diced onion and bell pepper. Cook until mostly softened.
  • Step 4 Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  • Step 5 Add in the remaining ingredients except salt. Mix everything together.
  • Step 6 Salt to taste.
  • Step 7 Transfer everything to a greased baking dish.
  • Step 8 Bake for 35-40 minutes.
