If you are a chicken wing person, these Smoked Chicken Wings are for you! Perfect for summer get togethers or a Super Bowl party, these wings make their appearance year-round in our home! I truly think you will be shocked at how easy these wings are. I consider them the bbq version of a crockpot meal-set it and forget it. We are fortunate enough to have a pellet grill, specifically a Traeger, that makes this that much easier. However, any smoker is a good smoker and will get the job done! I'm sure your mouth is salivating by this point and you'd rather get to the fun part. Let's get this smokin' party rolling!
Ingredients
- 2 lbs of chicken wings
- Chub Rub - Spicy
Directions
- Step 1 Set your smoker to 225 degrees F.
- Step 2 If your wings are whole, prep them but cutting the wing from the drum at the joint. Do the same for the wing tip. If you can’t find the joint, simply bend them apart until the joint pops. ** Keep your wing tips in the freezer for homemade chicken stock!
- Step 3 Place your wings in a large bowl and cover liberally with chub rub or dry seasoning of your choice.
- Step 4 Let the wings rest for 20 minutes.
- Step 5 After 20 minutes, spread the wings out on the grates. Smoke for 2 hours.
- Step 6 After 2 hours, crank the temperature up to 500 degree F and cook 5 minutes on each side or until crispy. **If you are using a standard wood smoker, I would transfer these to an oven OR a hot propane/charcoal grill.
- Step 7 Transfer wings to a serving plate. Let rest 5 min and serve with ranch (of course).
